HOW WE LAYER SUPPORT FOR SCHOOL STAFF
Central to effective implementation of Digipreneurship University (DU) is a comprehensive professional development system anchoring the model’s four pillars or turnaround strategies. With dropout prevention and intervention at the core of DU, the professional development initiatives include ongoing assistance designed to facilitate implementation of the DU model for administrators, teachers, and other school support staff, such as school transformation facilitators, and instructional coaches and facilitators, working to efficiently sustain the model. School-based administrators benefit from professional development activities designed to enhance data-driven decisions, while teacher teams participate in activities intended to structure and strengthen professional learning communities. Teachers continuously benefit from layers of support targeting curriculum, instruction and assessment while engaging in reflective practices guided by a DU instructional coach.
SCHOOL INSTRUCTIONAL FACILITATORS
The DU instructional facilitators provide support to instructional coaches and teachers in a specific content area. Facilitators work with coaches and teachers on planning courses, units, and lessons; demonstrating teaching techniques; and reflecting on current practices. Instructional Facilitators are responsible for maintaining contact with the school instructional coaches on instructional issues and priorities in preparation for & in between monthly DU technical assistance visits.
JOBS EMBEDDED SCHOOL-BASED SUPPORT
Other types of professional development are directed toward an integrated, data-guided, system of student/job-seeker support that is inherent in the model to provide safety nets and recovery options for youth and adults who are “off track” from career goals. Because supportive school environments are vital to establishing and maintaining a positive climate among students and teachers, community-wide professional development equips trainers with the tools needed to maximize outcomes and to positively influence perception of the learning environment as part of a “can-do” culture.
WORKSHOPS AND CO-MARKETING OPPORTUNITIES
Digipreneurship University delivers marketing and technical support to education summits and conferences as extended professional development experiences for potential partners across the country. We can also facilitate virtual or hands-on training to existing and newly hired teachers in a model used to support reflective practices among CBOs and local schools. Our custom workshops appeal to a broader educational audience interested in the components of the DU model, school transformation, academic outcomes and other related topics.
Digipreneurship University teachers receive sustained professional development, technical assistance, and implementation support on multiple layers. DU instructional facilitators in math, reading/English language arts, science, and multicultural history provide support to school-based curriculum coaches, as well as non-evaluative in-classroom support such as modeling, troubleshooting, and peer coaching. DU instructional facilitators work closely with curriculum coaches and school administrators to design staff development and align instruction with district standards and local initiatives, and ensure strong implementation.
