Electronic commerce focuses on the use of ICT to enable the external activities and relationships of the business with individuals, groups and other businesses. The term “e-business” was coined by IBM‘s marketing and Internet teams in 1996
This course is designed to provide an introduction to information technology concepts and careers as well as the impact information technology has on the world, people, and industry and basic web design concepts. The content includes information technology career research; operating systems and software applications; electronic communications including e-mail and Internet services; basic web commands and design; and emerging technologies.
Digipreneurship E-business training peels back the layers of information technology by exposing the skill sets for successful interactive web design for novice-to-advance participants. Each session is designed to take you from hardware to “Cloud Computing” with an emphasis on website management and software usage, ie, MS Office Suite, WordPress and Photoshop. A special focus exist to improve communication with parents, vendors, and staff to maximize time and productivity. The purpose for the course is to get a firm grip on the basics of computers for the rest of your I.T. career.
Participants will be challenged to establish a “business profile”, business email account, and message delivery/content that clearly articulates their goals and mission/purpose. Each participant will receive a Digipreneur Certificate upon full attendance to each course and completion of pre-post assessment test.
This course introduces students to basic web design using HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). The course does not require any prior knowledge of HTML or web design. Throughout the course students are introduced to planning and designing effective web pages; implementing web pages by writing HTML and CSS code; enhancing web pages with the use of page layout techniques, text formatting, graphics, images, and multimedia; and producing a functional, multi-page website.
The course topical outline provides a summary of course topics that can be used as a guide when progressing through the course. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Recognize and understand HTML web page elements
- Know how to write HTML code
- Understand and apply effective web design principles
- Enhance web pages using text formatting, color, graphics, images, and multimedia
- Incorporate forms into web pages
- Understand CSS to format web page elements
- Plan, design, and publish a multi-page website
Upon successful completion of this course, students will have a good foundation in web design using HTML and CSS and will be prepared to study more advanced web design topics. Students will have a general background in using a computer, managing files, and a basic knowledge of the Internet. Students will also be able to navigate to and within a website using a web browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Safari. Students do not need to purchase any software.
